The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a physician investigator with research expertise in psychedelic-assisted therapies in patients with cancer and/or other serious illness. This individual will devote at least 70% of their effort to research, with the remainder providing clinical care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. An academic rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements. Generous start-up package will be provided.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with demonstrated potential for creativity and excellence, who can develop an independent program of research examining the roles of psychedelic-assisted therapies in psychosocial oncology and palliative care. Examples include investigating the use of psychedelic-assisted therapies for existential distress, mood disorders, or pain in individuals with serious illness at the end of life or developing, testing, and implementing new therapeutic approaches for the use of psychedelics. The candidate must have an MD, trained in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Palliative Medicine Fellowship training preferred) or Psychiatry, and have a proven track record of outstanding research and mentoring ability. The successful candidate will engage in teaching students, housestaff, and fellows in the clinic and research settings.
Salary, benefits, and compensation will be consistent with experience and hospital policies.
Our department houses broad innovation, education, and research efforts. Research efforts span communication, symptom management, spirituality, and health services delivery, and also hosts a research fellowship training program. A broad pool of academic opportunities and mentorship are also available throughout the DFCI, BWH and the HMS communities. The investigator will be a member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and have access to all Harvard Catalyst resources.
