The Logistics Warehouse, situated within the Supply Management vertical of Supply Chain and Logistics, operates in alignment with Oregon Health & Science University's (OHSU) commitment to excellence. Located in the South Waterfront, our warehouse stands out due to its specialized focus on healthcare partners, supplies, and necessary support for a Level One Trauma Center. The in-office location at the Macadam Warehouse is in close proximity to managed inventory and staff reporting to this role. This role manages its own team dedicated to inventory management and reports to the Assistant Director of Supply Management. The team of 10 directs and manages work directly with Clinical Stakeholders, Perioperative Services, Pharmacy, Ambulatory, and Purchasing. This role may also work closely with OHSU Health Partners as needed. Our mission is twofold: to contribute to OHSU's journey to make Oregon a national leader in health and science innovation and to transform the OHSU Supply Chain & Logistics (SC&L) function into a best-in-class supply chain organization, ensuring seamless logistical operations to support the institution's esteemed healthcare services.
The Inventory Manager oversees and enhances the performance, productivity, efficiency, reliability, and resiliency of departmental and organizational operations through effective methods and strategies. They possess expert knowledge of OHSU's Inventory Systems and are the subject matter expert in managing inventories at OHSU. Responsibilities include strategic planning and process development to minimize supply chain waste. This role manages approximately $9.2 million of medical supply inventory at the Macadam Warehouse, Customer Owned Inventory (COI), offsite storage of medical supplies if needed, and $1.6 million in sub inventories across OHSU. Utilizing project management skills and logistics tools for cost-effective inventory management is critical to success. Learning and understanding of OHSU’s performance excellence systems (OPEx) will be required for this role to enhance collaborating with other Logistics, support, nursing, and clinical departments to meet inventory needs for regular or substitute supply management. Managing relationships, coordination, and the inventory of offsite medical supply storage may require learning and use of additional programs or processes. Providing recommendations and support for inventory and operational improvements. Managing OHSU's medical supply distributor and Logistics Warehouse fill rates to ensure supply chain continuity and provider access to medical supplies. Addressing critical medical supply shortages by finding substitutions or expediting purchases with buyers.
