The Division of Allergy and Immunology specializes in the treatment of patients with IgE and non-IgE mediated diseases including asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, urticaria, angioedema, stinging insect, and drug allergy. Division clinical immunologists diagnose and treat children with primary immune deficiencies including Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID), primary antibody, phagocyte and complement deficiencies. Faculty research interests include studies related to the diagnosis and management of drug and food allergy and the role of chronic infection, particularly with mycoplasma infection. The Director is responsible for the comprehensive leadership and management of the Division’s activities and for advancing clinical care, research, advocacy, and educational excellence. Applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD, DO or equivalent degree, be BC/BE in their specialty area practice and be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Alabama. Candidates should possess academic leadership experience and accomplishment that would qualify them for UAB faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.
