This is an excellent opportunity for a pediatric surgeon looking to practice the full breadth of our specialty, within a collaborative, quality-oriented team environment, at a single practice site located in downtown Orlando, FL. The department includes four pediatric surgeons working alongside two full-time pediatric surgical PAs as well as surgical residents.
Arnold Palmer Hospital is a 158-bed freestanding children's hospital, serving as the tertiary pediatric referral center for central Florida. The hospital employs a full range of pediatric subspecialties, and includes a 17-bed PICU, a 23-bed step-down unit, and a dedicated 14-bed pediatric CVICU. Winnie Palmer Hospital, the region's largest women and infants delivery hospital is connected via a sky bridge, with 15,000 deliveries annually including high-risk obstetrics, an extensive maternal fetal medicine program, and a fetal surgery program. Our surgical practice works in close collaboration with the NICU team as the exclusive providers of pediatric surgical care for Winnie Palmer Hospital NICU, a 150-bed Level IV NICU, which is currently the nation's largest single site NICU.
We offer ECMO for both pediatric and neonatal patients with coordinated multidisciplinary care in the NICU, PICU, and CVICU.
We are the region's only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and are a Children's Surgery Verified (CSV) center by the American College of Surgeons, with quality and safety initiatives featured as exemplary benchmarks in national meetings. We participate with pediatric NSQIP including multiple pro-active pilot study special interest groups. We have a fully staffed quality improvement team including a team of staff members who collaborate with the clinical team to continuously improve and develop protocols based on current literature, best practices, and data review. We are a member of the Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Learning Consortium (PCPLC) and are growing our new pediatric colorectal surgical center for excellence. The NICU participates with the Vermont Oxford Network. Arnold Palmer Hospital is a nationally ranked Children's Hospital by US News and World Report in multiple specialties.
Regular internal multidisciplinary conferences include but are not limited to ECMO committee, Trauma Quality Management, Children's Hospital Intestinal Rehabilitation Program, Tiny Baby Collaborative, Surgical Performance Improvement and Patient Safety, Opiate Stewardship, Orlando Regional Medical Center Surgical Department Morbidity and Mortality, Pediatric Tumor Board, and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease collaborative. In addition, our surgeons serve on several national committees, and are supported in presenting at national and international conferences.
Arnold Palmer is part of the Orlando Health Medical Center, and the pediatric surgery service includes coverage by two to three general surgery residents at all times. Opportunity exists for academic appointment at University of Central Florida and Florida State University.
All surgeries are conducted at Arnold Palmer Hospital in close collaboration with our team of highly skilled pediatric anesthesiologists. We utilize a full range of the most advanced surgical techniques including minimally invasive surgical procedures and robotic procedures using the DaVinci robot.
Financial Package
Excellent base salary, pooled RVU-based productivity bonus shared among the surgical practice to eliminate competition for cases between partners, and additional on-call compensation.
