Overview
Under the general supervision of the Network Infrastructure Lead, provide infrastructure and telecommunication support services to all departments and hospital owned Physician Practices. Duties include design, implementation and support of network and telecommunications infrastructure equipment including but not limited to active directory, exchange, virtualization, and other enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
Assess network infrastructure needs and make recommendations to Network Infrastructure Lead on recommended hardware platforms and software applications to meet required needs. Perform set-up and installation of network equipment to include proper testing and burn-in of system components. Support users by maintaining a working knowledge of various Medical Center networks. Maintain knowledge of computer technology and network technology.
Reviews new computer enhancements. Recommends and installs upgrades as approved by the Network Infrastructure Lead. Plan and implement new network systems, while maintaining proper controls and ensuring maximum user uptime. Add, delete, or change user accounts on hospital systems, maintaining proper documentation and controls. Monitor and control backup systems, ensuring error free backups of user data, system data, and patient data. Works with customers to effectively design and implement solutions.
Responsible for acting as an inter-departmental liaison to solve all interface and integration related issues. This includes working with personnel from various departments to provide guidance on interface related departmental documentation and to help set proper expectations on what can and cannot be accomplished through the interfaces.
Provide On-Call and Hands-On support of all users of network computer equipment and telecommunication equipment. Ensures resolution of Helpdesk issues generated while on-call. Can communicate effectively orally and in writing. Works with other team members to effectively implement and maintain computer environments and interfaces as well as recommending improved processes and procedures.
Install and direct vendors or personnel to install various network topology cabling throughout the medical Center and BMC owned Physician Practices for telephone and/or data transport. Assist network infrastructure lead in the assessment of systems to ensure scalability and reliability are considered to accommodate for growth.
Install and bring online all communication hardware/software equipment at satellites. Configure the network to interface with the other networks. Monitors internet activity and takes necessary steps to protect and secure our data. Responsible for any of the following disciplines: Unix, Windows storage, enterprise backups, active directory, exchange, enterprise anti-virus protection and any other software in support of the infrastructure. Responsible for providing appropriate documentation of the firewall. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three or more years of IT experience. Can be substituted for a degree in computer science. Minimum of two years’ experience providing network infrastructure support. Virtualization of servers, desktops and Storage Area Networks. Courses required in Microcomputer hardware repair.
