Occ Summary
Assume responsibilities for direct nursing car e of assigned patientsunder the supervision of a registered nurse or phy sician in patient carearea. Provides nursing services to patients and fa milies in accordancewith the scopeof the LPN as defined by the North Ca rolina Board ofNursing.
Work Performed
Provide and do cument direct nursing care of assigned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursing care is guidedby the physicianorders and the nursing plan of care. Patient responseto care is reported toa registered nurse for evaluation, interventionand modification of th eplan of care. Assist other health care personnelin the delivery of pati ent care.Assist physicians and othernursing personnel in the performanc eofvarious diagnostic procedures.Evaluate nursing care with emphasis onn ursing procedures and patientresponses; assist in the delivery of nursin g care and selection ofnursing priorities.Assist in the development andimplementation of general policies andprocedures to provide for the emoti onal and physical comfort and safetyof patients; participatein the form ulation of new policies.Participate in maintaining the environment ofcar e including equipmentand other material resources.Participate in theiden tification of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportuniti es and assists in performance improvementactivities.Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectivene ss of material and equipment and report anyequipment malfunctions tochar ge nurse.Participate in in-service education programs and other conferen ceswithin the service.Assist in the training of new employees.Perform ot her related duties incidental to thework described herein.

Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
