University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks an oncologist with special interest in childhood hematologic malignancies (leukemia/lymphoma). Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest. Appointment rank to Instructor of Pediatrics (non-tenure or clinical track) may also be considered. The individual selected will provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services in the oncology service.
The pediatric cancer program provides comprehensive care to a wide variety of patients with hematologic malignancies including acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, and histiocytic disorders. The Division has a robust Adolescence and Young Adult (AYA) cancer program in collaboration with the NCI-designated, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Iowa. The scope of practice includes but is not limited to the enrollment of multi-institutional clinical research protocols, CAR T cell therapy, and other innovative clinical protocols. The division is involved in cutting-edge research that is funded by the NIH and nonfederal agencies.

The UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical staff of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa’s only nationally ranked children’s hospital and home to the state’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital trains 50 pediatric resident physicians. For its 2023-24 edition of “Best Children’s Hospitals,” U.S. News & World Report ranked UI Stead Family Children's Hospital in six pediatric specialties: neonatology, diabetes and endocrinology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology.

Requirements:
Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible Hematology/Oncology or equivalent
License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
Desirable qualifications:
Interest and/or expertise in hematologic malignancies
Clinical experience in an academic setting
Experience in patient-oriented research
Competence in teaching pediatric medical students, residents, and fellows
Evidence of scholarly activity
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Candidates with related clinical and leadership experience will be considered for an endowed professorship
Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment
