The Stem Cell Lab Supervisor for the Malignant Hematology, Cell Therapy and Transplant (MHCTT) division provides supervision of clinical lab staff and daily operational management for the Cell Therapy processing lab at UCD. Oversees regulatory and quality outcomes for all adult and pediatric cell collection and processing procedures. Supports cellular therapy processes across the BMT and immune effector cell (IEC) service line development. Working alongside the MHCTT Clinical Leadership and Quality teams, evaluates all cellular therapy service requests and is responsible for lab readiness. Assists The Quality Manager and team to assure compliance with all regulatory standards per FACT, FDA, CIBMTR, AABB, CAP, CMS, TJC and other regulatory entities. Leads continuous quality improvement in cell collection and processing departments. Responsible for equipment maintenance. Actively participates in strategic planning for the growth and advancement of the Cellular Therapies program. This position will work closely with clinical teams from both outpatient and inpatient BMT, Apheresis and MHCTT providers. Supervises 7 clinical lab scientists and lab technicians.
Minimum Qualifications
• Active clinical or technical licensure as Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in BMT/Cell Therapies and with GMP laboratory guidelines and related accreditation standards.
• In-depth knowledge of bone marrow/stem cell transplant and cellular therapies and laboratory quality, compliance and regulatory requirements.
