Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Experience with teaching and mentoring residents and/or endocrine fellows. Experience with clinical trial research and scholarly activity documented by authorship of at least ten peer reviewed publications. Candidate will join a large and growing academic Endocrinology Division at the University program and should be competitive for appointment as an academic Endocrinologist; therefore, a track record of significant experience in basic and clinical research supported with publications in peer-reviewed journals is highly desired. Responsibilities include endocrine/diabetic clinic, inpatient consult service, and teaching/mentoring Endocrine fellows. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Patient care in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient consult rotation, and performance of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirate (FNA) thyroid biopsies as needed. Comprehensive consultative clinic is available for patient referral. Wide range of patients including those with diabetes, thyroid disorders, gender dysphoria, and non-diabetic endocrine disorders are evaluated and treated. Work up, diagnosis, and provision of non-surgical treatment and consultation for both patients admitted and on an outpatient basis (including e-consults).
