Overview
BJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.

The Home Infusion Therapy Department of BJC Home Care Services works closely with physicians, patients and caregivers to enable patients to remain or return home while receiving intravenous medications. Our services include 24 hour on-call pharmacy and nursing services, comprehensive patient education materials, patient assessment and drug administration monitoring, and coordination of professional services including home care nursing and laboratory services.

Role Purpose
Under the direction of the Manager, the Coordinator plans, directs, and coordinates the business, administrative, and operational functions of the pharmacy's infusion suites. Ensures that the infusion suites are operating in compliance with all The Joint Commission (TJC) and other state and federal regulatory requirements. Develops and oversees the training and orientation program for the Vascular Access Specialists and other infusion suite support staff. Performs direct patient care and serves as a clinical resource for the nursing, pharmacy, and support staff. Dual Nursing licensure in MO and IL is required; must have MO licensure at the start of employment and IL licensure within 6 months of start of employment.
Responsibilities
Serves as a subject matter expert in: a.) the placement, maintenance, troubleshooting, and de-clotting of intravenous catheters, b.) the administration of specialty medications, c.) the operation of the infusion suites.
Provides leadership for the infusion suite staff for defined periods of time using critical thinking and assessment skills ensuring that the suites operate in a uniform fashion that optimizes patient safety.
Develops and participates in the training and orientation program for the Vascular Access Specialists, the infusion field nurses, and other ancillary staff who support the infusion suites.
Develops and maintains infusion suite policies and procedures that are compliant with all TJC as well as state and federal guidelines.
Assists in the development and maintenance of both a staffing and scheduling model that supports and maintains maximum chair capacity.
