General Description of The Job Class
Directs the provision of medical nutrition therapy and the nutrition care process by supervising the activities of clinical dietitians. Directs the operation of the hospital Room Service program. Provides operational support and coaching to the Nutritional Service Department Supervisors.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Manages, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of assigned department personnel based on job requirements and core competencies assigned to the job.
Coaches and supports the four Nutritional Services Department supervisors and clinical nutrition lead. Interacts with hospital administration, medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, and foodservice staff to promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation and to ensure patient's nutritional needs are met. Develops, initiates, and monitors quality initiatives and patient safety practices in accordance with the Joint Commission and other accrediting organizations.
Subject Matter Expert for regulatory compliance in clinical and food service. Recruits, interviews, hires, and facilitates training of new employees to meet department staffing needs. Provides/facilitates continuing education and training opportunities for staff.

Required Qualifications at this Level Education
Masters Degree required.
Experience
Four years of experience in clinical nutrition.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (American Dietetic Association) and Licensed by the N.C. Board of Dietetics and Nutrition.
