Memorial Transplant Institute at Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a Transplant Nephrologist to join our growing team at Memorial Regional Hospital. Eligible candidates should be BE/BC in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and successfully completed an AST-ASN accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship or possess requisite experience in kidney transplantation. Candidates with an interest in general nephrology and apheresis would be preferred. The successful candidate will become a key member of our multidisciplinary team and participate in quality and selection committees. Additionally, responsibilities will include evaluating transplant and living donor candidates, inpatient and outpatient care of transplant recipients, and intermittent and continuous dialysis therapies. Candidates with significant experience or interest in advancing the pancreas transplant program would be highly desirable as the physician would be integral to the programmatic growth strategy. Strong interest and demonstrated abilities in delivering patient care in a multidisciplinary academic medical setting is required as the physician would be expected to participate in the education and training of medical students and residents in fulfillment of the academic missions of Memorial Healthcare System.
Since its inception in 2017, the kidney transplant program has been among the fastest growing and consistently ranked among the nation’s best programs based on SRTR reporting criteria. Memorial Transplant institute received UNOS approval for pancreas transplants in 2023. Memorial Transplant Institute has a stable referral base with over 1,000 new referrals annually. The program performed 146 kidney transplants in 2023 with an anticipated yearly volume approaching 200 transplants by 2025. The program is currently supported by experienced transplant surgeons with multidisciplinary support from ancillary services within the healthcare system.
This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
About Memorial Transplant Institute
Memorial Transplant Institute is the only center in Broward County to offer kidney and heart transplants to both adults and children. In 2017, with federal approval from UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing), Memorial Transplant Institute launched the adult kidney transplant program with pediatric transplant capabilities at Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, respectively. The Institute established a living donor kidney recovery component, including open and laparoscopic nephrectomies. The program offers cadaveric and living donor kidney transplants. The newly launched pancreas program was approved by UNOS in 2023 and is the only program in Broward County to offer pancreas transplants.
