Albizu University, an independent, accredited university focusing on counseling, allied health professions, and human services education with campuses in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next Miami campus chancellor. This on-site leadership role based in Miami requires some travel to San Juan.
Albizu University (AU) was founded in San Juan in 1966. An Hispanic-Serving Institution, it is accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education and is authorized for distance education under the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Its doctoral program in clinical psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), and ASHA accredits its Masters in Science in the Speech and Language program. The Miami campus serves adult learners, offering an online undergraduate degree in psychology and campus-based and online master's and doctoral degrees in human services, speech pathology, and psychology. It also offers English courses in the health professions, business, and the arts to student speakers of other languages (ESOL). Its expansive space allows for on-site clinics and provides the opportunity to expand degree and continuing education programs.
Reporting to the president, the chancellor oversees the operations, library, academic programs, student affairs, facilities, enrollment, and budget of the Miami campus. The role requires exceptional leadership skills, a commitment to excellence, the ability to foster collaborations with diverse stakeholders, and the capacity to work closely with Albizu central administration colleagues in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The chancellor will partner with the president and central administration colleagues to implement a shared services model and plans that ensure student success and advance the institution's vision, growth, and impact. The chancellor of the Albizu University Miami branch campus will lead with a social justice framework in a culturally diverse university within the global urban environment of Miami, Florida. The chancellor will foster an inclusive learning and engagement environment for the Miami campus's students, faculty, and staff. The Miami campus chancellor directly supervises six professional staff and indirectly supervises the campus faculty. The Miami campus budget exceeds $13 million.
The public salary for this position is $190,000-$200,000.
Qualifications Successful candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D, Ed.D.) from an accredited institution
Broad higher education administrative experience that includes work with diverse student populations and experience with online, hybrid, and campus-based teaching for adult learners
Demonstrated leadership in a complex organization that emphasizes collaboration and partnership
Success managing and leading change
Working knowledge of budget management, compliance and assessment, strategic plan development and implementation, enrollment management, and accreditation processes
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and student-centered work with a track record of promoting student retention and success
Ability to be engaged and successful in an intercultural university committed to education that creates social impact in the multicultural urban environment of Miami and beyond
Experience generating alternative revenues, including grant writing and/or fundraising
Outstanding communication skills
