Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a Digital Scanning Technician I to become a part of our team of dedicated professionals!

Role Overview:

Prep pathology glass slides for digital scanning. Log incoming glass slides which arrive to the Digital Scanning Area into the department's laboratory information system; assist in the maintenance of quality control for glass slides submitted for digital scanning to ensure good image quality, and assists in the documentation of quality control issues and scans completed. This position does not require digital slide level review.

• Performs appropriate quality controls activities to assure accuracy of data on glass slide labels, quality digital images, and patient safety.
• Examines all information on the glass slide label(s) and checks for accuracy; patient identifiers on labels must match and correspond to what's documented in the department's LIS; Prepares for entry into the department's laboratory information system (LIS) by scanning the barcode on the glass slide.
• Follows the department's standard operating procedures for assessing and resolving quality control issues; remains up to date with the department's practices and applies it accordingly. Follows proper protocol for completing documentation of QA issues (i.e. QA logs and daily workload).
• Examine sides for overhanging labels, tape, or excess mounting medium that may affect their fit in the scanning mechanism and impede the scanning process.
• Assists with administrative tasks per daily rotations and/or as asked by Assistant Manager.

Key Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Data entry experience (prefer that experience is in a laboratory environment).
• Experience in Slide Library, Lab Accessioning, Lab Assistant, and/or administrative work in Health Care environment preferred

• Work site: 1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065
• Shift: 10PM-6AM, Monday-Friday with rotating weekends

Pay Range: $22.52-$31.13 hourly
