Summary:

The Manager Anesthesia Scheduling is responsible for the coordination of scheduling and anesthesia operations to ensure accuracy in scheduling all anesthetizing locations and excellence in customer service. The Manager works collaboratively with physicians, physician's offices, clinical staff, external departments and members of the leadership team to optimize surgical access. This individual ensures protocols are followed, schedules are efficiently aligned, and patients and physicians encounter a positive experience.

Responsibilities:

Operational Management Goal: Designs, develops, and implements department scheduling policies and procedures; plans, updates and monitors continuing education for surgery scheduling department staff; completes orientation, competency assessments and conducts ongoing evaluation of staff performance; maintains all scheduling functions of the surgery and anesthesia departments; coordinates with the department of clinical informatics to ensure protocols set forth in the scheduling guidelines are reflected in the perioperative information system; evaluates surgeons' and anesthesiologists' schedules daily and communicates any changes to the leadership team; leads/participates in continuous improvement activities for both the Scheduling and Anesthesia teams.

Human Resources Management: Develops others through setting clear expectations, mentoring and coaching, and holding others accountable for results; Utilizing work force analysis, identifies required competencies needed for effective management of human resources and is able to identify short and long-term staffing needs; conducts oneself in an honest, credible, trustworthy manner consistent with YRMC's values; demonstrates an integration of values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors through an acceptance of responsibility and accountability for individual's own actions; ensures that the work force has the necessary skills to accomplish the work required to achieve the objectives of the department; partners with Human Resources to develop long-term human resource plans, anticipating future needs and developing employees able to meet those challenges; fosters an open working environment for easy access to express ideas and concerns; demonstrates and expects open communications; promotes an environment that is open and collaborative while keeping the team focused on a common goal; builds rapport, encourages teamwork, creates an environment where employees may feel empowered.

Planning/Vision: Provides vision, forward thinking and strategic planning in a proactive manner while being open-minded and creative in establishing a strategic direction; develops through an integration of ideas of those involved, an organized strategy to achieve both short and long term objectives for the department; effectively communicates strategy to obtain commitment by the responsible individuals; leads the strategic planning process for the respective department; ensures plans and objectives are integrated within the plans of the medical center; works with others in leadership as well as physicians to identify and evaluate programs and emerging technologies

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of five (5) + years as an administrative coordinator or office manager in a hospital.
• Two (2) + years of Healthcare experience with electronic medical records system.
• Prior customer service experience required.
