Overview
The Guest Relations Attendant/Screener plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive first impression for all who enter the lobby. In this high-profile position, the Attendant is responsible for greeting visitors, issuing visitor passes, and providing accurate directions. The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive demeanor and professional appearance is essential. Additionally, the Attendant should anticipate the needs of patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming experience. This role also includes screening patients, staff, and visitors for temperature and virus symptoms to ensure a safe environment for all.
Responsibilities
Perform Attendant/Greeter functions, including but not limited to:
Greet all individuals entering and exiting the lobby with a warm and professional demeanor.
Request identification from visitors, patients, vendors, team members, and physicians.
Issue visitor passes to individuals without a Beebe Medical Center-issued badge or RepTrax-generated badge.
Verify the destination of patients and visitors, providing clear and accurate directions.
Conduct temperature checks and ask screening questions related to virus symptoms.
Provide masks to individuals entering without one.
First Impressions:
Recognize the importance of this role as the first point of contact at the Medical Center; maintain a voice, appearance, and behavior that reflects excellent customer service at all times.
Serve as a reliable resource for patients and visitors, addressing inquiries and offering assistance.
Adhere to departmental and hospital policies regarding dress code and cell phone use.
Anticipate the needs of patients and visitors, including:
Assisting with wheelchairs and transporting individuals to their destinations as needed.
Physically escorting patients and visitors to ensure they reach their destinations safely.
Provide routine information to the public about hospital departments, team members, patients, and meetings while following HIPAA guidelines and the "need to know" principle.
Exhibit the ability to handle stressful situations and employ critical thinking skills to solve problems and assist patients and visitors.
Respond to emergency situations and lobby incidents according to established protocols.
Notify the appropriate department regarding any patient, team member, or visitor who does not pass screening questions or temperature checks, following recommended next steps per protocol.
Maintain accurate records and ensure an adequate supply of necessary materials for job functions.
Care for and maintain departmental supplies and equipment, including thermometers and other screening tools, in accordance with policies.
Ensure a clean working environment by keeping the area organized and free of debris.
Occasionally perform valet services, including parking, retrieving, and delivering customer vehicles in compliance with applicable laws and policies.
Carry out other duties as assigned to support departmental needs.
Qualifications
Minimum of one year of customer service experience.
Exceptional communication and public relations skills.
Proficient in basic computer skills.
Ability to remain composed and effective in stressful situations.
Capable of assisting patients and visitors in wheelchairs, ensuring safe transportation to their destinations.
Valid Delaware driver’s license required, with no more than one at-fault accident in the past three years and no more than three moving violations during the same period.
Flexibility to cover additional locations as needed.

Beebe Healthcare serves the Sussex County community with a medical center located in beautiful, historic Lewes, Delaware, and convenient outpatient locations throughout the county. Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services. Beebe offers an array of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services.
Beebe's five satellite campuses offer imaging, physical rehabilitation, and lab services, as well as walk-in care centers. In addition, Beebe offers Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine and Diabetes Management & Medical Nutrition Therapy.
With a mission to serve the community, Beebe also offers many free screenings and outreach programs through its Population Health Department; and advanced medical care for those who are recuperating at home through Beebe Home Care Services.
