Overview
The Unit charge is responsible and accountable for organizing and directing all aspects of their clinical area. The Unit Charge works collaboratively and reports to the Nurse Manager to support operations, quality, safety, and patient throughput. The Unit Charge serves as a positive role model and sets the professional tone for their area. The Unit Charge provides leadership and management in the areas of customer satisfaction, provision of safe and effective care, human resources, communication, patient advocacy, process improvement, and leadership/professional development.
Responsibilities
Performs all responsibilities included in an RN role as needed. Facilitates Leadership on unit a)Leads problem resolution, b)Monitors team member performance, participates in evaluation process c)Serves as a clinical resource for day-to-day functioning d)Maintain a state of readiness for all needed regulatory standards e)Monitors and responds to STT reports f)Monitors and addresses narcotic variance reports g)Assists with development, implementation, and hardwiring of initiatives, quality outcomes, and best practices. Ensures effective communication throughout all aspects of unit operations with multidisciplinary team a)Lead shift huddles b)Review of Key Performance Indicators and other unit PI for Team Daily Management c)Participation in team meetings d)Participation in shared governance at unit level and organizationally e)One to One team member rounds to ensure quality and safety Maintains knowledge of customer services measures and works with team to drive toward annual goals a)Conducts leader rounding on patients Plans for optimal staffing based on census within set productivity a)Collaborates with staffing coordinator b)Schedule balancing and reconciliation c)Creates staff assignments and maintains productivity

Scheduling Requirements (subject to change based on units needs) Every third weekend One winter & one summer holiday Skills Essential: 2 years of clinical nursing experience area of practice Clear communication skills both written and verbal Possess an energetic, compassionate and efficient work ethic with strong organizational skills and effective customer service skills Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with patients, coworkers, and healthcare providers Knowledge of basic computer programs Able to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members Able to withstand crisis situations and work under pressure Has skills to provides customer service to patients, team members, and visitors Knowledge and experience with electronic health records Demonstrated time management skills required Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds, training and experience. Beebe Healthcare serves the Sussex County community with a medical center located in beautiful, historic Lewes, Delaware, and convenient outpatient locations throughout the county. Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services. Beebe offers an array of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services.
Beebe's five satellite campuses offer imaging, physical rehabilitation, and lab services, as well as walk-in care centers. In addition, Beebe offers Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine and Diabetes Management & Medical Nutrition Therapy.
With a mission to serve the community, Beebe also offers many free screenings and outreach programs through its Population Health Department; and advanced medical care for those who are recuperating at home through Beebe Home Care Services.

Beebe's Medical Staff has grown tremendously since the early 1990s. Employed physicians through Beebe Medical Group and our affiliated physicians on Beebe's Medical Staff now serve patients from Milford to Millville in specialties including cardiac surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, family practice, gastroenterology, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatric neurology, and surgical oncology.
