The role you’ll contribute:
Under general supervision the Mammography Technologist II performs duties directly involved with mammography (screening and diagnostic mammography) and a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. This position is responsible for performing needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and seed implant (if available on site). The Mammography Technologist II regulates the equipment used to expose the imaging receptor; processes and organizes images. Additionally, this position operates equipment safely while performing mammography and other types of radiological procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Produces quality radiographs per the procedure manual. Documents history, utilizes appropriate exposure, positioning, patient ID and markers. Reviews patient’s previous exam report to verify area of interest. Reviews patient’s images/films to verify placement of needle. Obtains consent from patient and reviews risks and potential complications. Informs/ updates Radiologist of any information pertinent to exam.
Performs needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and seed implant (if available on site).
Operates and maintains imaging equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. Is knowledgeable of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and /or biohazard. Maintains all pertinent paperwork as it relates to MQSA and ACR regulations. Properly wears Dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure.
Performs a full range of imaging procedures including screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and special procedures. Operates all imaging equipment in assigned department. Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of adult and geriatric ages. Acquires knowledge and skills through in-service, continuing education and/or experience.
Demonstrates a willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
One to three years’ experience in Mammography
One year of experience performing stereotactic core biopsies
One year of experience performing breast needle localizations
Florida State License – General Radiographer
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) Radiology
ARRT (M) Mammography
