Position Summary
Provide support to the Radiation Therapist with patient transport, set up and transferring to the linear accelerator. Help with general tasks to support patient care. Assist in managing patient volumes in Linacs. Assist the physician in daily tracking of patient planning and workflow. Provide support with communication between physics, physician, dosimetry and radiation therapists. Operates imaging equipment, prepares exam room, equipment and supplies.Provides patient services using imaging modalities and positioning devices.
The CT Technologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her department.The individual must acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.He/she must be able to provide care with consideration of developmental status.
Primary (Essential) Duties:
Follows the prescribed techniques in administering all types of procedures.
Maintains working inventory of supplies.
Prepares patient for procedures, explains procedure, assists patient to and from exam room.
Utilize appropriate positioning devices needed to assist in preparation for radiation therapy. Understand use of gantry, lasers, table and treatment accessories.
Observes equipment and patient and reports unusual occurrences.
Cleans and disinfects procedure room and equipment. Follows guidelines for room organization.
Creates diagnostic CT and x-ray images in accordance with appropriate ALARA techniques.
Performs general office duties.
Uses proper radiation safety techniques.
May perform diagnostic x-ray procedures as needed/required per shift.
Maintains appropriate patient flow.
Transports patients.
Participates in on-call rotation.
Performs quality control and quality assurance duties of the CT department as requested.
Participates in the training process of other staff members as required.
Assess equipment needs with Lead CT Technologist and/or Department Director.
Track patients in the planning process from SIM to Start Treatment. Communicate as needed between the physician, physics, dosimetry and therapists. Update the Pending Treatment Patient list for review at chart rounds every week.
Update and manage the patient planning treatment board for the physician and physics. Meet with the physician as needed to assist with organizing and keeping up to date on where patients are in the planning process.
Perform chart checks prior to patient?s treatment start date
Manage radiation therapist?s work schedule
Assist radiation therapist?s with linac schedules
Timekeeper to manage time clock edits

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Graduate of AMA approved school in Radiology Technology
Must have advanced-level certification by the ARRT or equivalent accreditation body in computed tomography, or registration and certification in radiography by ARRT or obtain registration and certification within six months of hire with the ARRT and documented training on the provision of diagnostic CT exams.
BLS on first day or to be assigned by the Learning Center
