Your role
· Proactively seeks assistance to improve any responsibilities assigned to their role.
· Provides timely and continual coverage of assigned work area to offer prompt patient service and availability for all departmental including but not limited to clinical teams for all registration needs.
· Meets and exceeds productivity standards determined by department leadership.
· Properly identifies patients, ensures armband accuracy, inputs demographics information, and secures the required forms to ensure compliance with regulatory policies.
· Maintains working knowledge of AdventHealth phone system to include answering phones, transferring calls, or providing alternative direction to the caller and communicating effectively with department areas. If applicable to facility, knowledge of alarm systems and protocols and maintains knowledge of security protocol.
· Cross trained in scheduling to assist with tasks based on department need.
· Actively attends department meetings/huddles and promotes positive dialogue within the team.
· Corrects demographic, insurance, and registration related errors in EPIC.
· Daily monitoring of registration related work queues, correcting any errors as needed.
· Daily monitoring of in basket messages from patients, contacting/resolving as needed.
· Scans patient medical records to include clarification orders, blood product consents, outside lab results and other records as deemed necessary.
· Minimizes duplication of medical records by using problem-solving skills to verify patient identity through demographic details.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and adroit ability to use discretion when discussing patient related information that is confidential in nature as needed to perform duties.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs
• Ability to operate general office machines such as computers, fax machines, printers, scanner.
• Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in written form
• Ability to adapt in ever changing healthcare environment.
• Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures, with a close attention to detail.
• Adheres to government guidelines such as CMS, EMTALA, HIPPAA and AdventHealth corporate policies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED
• Knowledge of computer programs and electronic health record programs.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Exposure to insurance benefits; ability to decipher insurance benefit information.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• High School Graduate or equivalent and 1 years of customer services experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• One year of relevant healthcare experience
• Associate degree and/or higher-level education, or completed coursework, in Health Services Administration or other related medical or business field.
