General Description of the Job Class
Manage all clinical operations of a Radiology department including, but not limited to, equipment, personnel, scheduling, financial and customer service functions.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Operational
Develop, implement and maintain programs and procedures, such as operating, safety and quality; ensure and maintain standards; determine cause of variances or inabilities to meet established targets; create operational adjustments to ensure that targets are met.
Develop, maintain and evaluate customer-scheduling procedures; ensure that all personnel are properly trained on equipment and competent in its use.
Evaluate and recommend supplies, equipment and technologies; provide justification and prioritization of such needs; order procedural and operational supplies.
Ensure documentation and compliance for local, state and federal regulations including JCAHO and HIPAA.
Maintain liaison with physicians, research personnel, and staff to resolve problems and to advise concerning technical procedures, techniques, and equipment.
Work inter- and intra-departmentally to resolve customer concerns or complaints.
Represent the department on various committees, at meetings and conferences.
Personnel
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to personnel management. Advise and oversee supervisor's administration of Duke University Health System and department policies; ensure that department and hospital guidelines, work rules and personnel policies are understood and applied to staff.
Oversee all personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and scheduling; manage and review work schedules and assignments.
Ensure that all employees are properly oriented, trained, and up to date with annual competencies, certifications, and licensure and education requirements.
Plan, develop and provide continuing education and training for technical staff.
Budgetary
Responsible for personnel budget including, but not limited to, overtime and flex time expenses; assist in budget preparation through recommendations and projections for staffing and equipment needs.
Evaluate new equipment and provide recommendations for necessity of capital equipment purchases.
Oversee and ensure that exams and supplies are coded correctly and charged to maximize reimbursement.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Work requires required registry/certification in applicable imaging modality - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
Experience
Three years of team leader/supervisory experience in an imaging modality (Radiologic Tech, MR, CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Interventional Radiology) or two years of experience in an imaging modality (Radiologic Tech, MR, CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Interventional Radiology) and three years of team leader/supervisory experience in a non-Radiology area.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Certification as prescribed by ARRT, ARDMS/CCI, and/or NMTCB.
BLS certification
