SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the guidance of the Solid Organ Transplant Associate Vice President the Lead On-Call Transplant Coordinator will serve as a professional role model and mentor while expertly guiding a team of On-Call Transplant Coordinators. The Lead On-Call Transplant Coordinator will work in collaboration with the On-Call Transplant Coordinators, organ procurement organization (OPO) and Transplant Surgeons. The Lead On-Call Transplant Coordinator will be responsible for screening deceased donor organ offers for the solid organ transplant programs (heart, kidney, liver) at Penn State Health. They will work closely with the OPO, transplant surgeons, transplant coordinators operating room, inpatient units, OR pharmacy, HLA lab, blood bank and transplant team to coordinate potential transplants. This individual would be working 12-hour shifts, rotating between days/nights including holidays and weekends. Primarily this position is a remote position. However, there may be a need to be available to come on-site in the event on an as needed basis. This position is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and other regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in solid organ transplantation required
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. Examiners
Bachelor?s Degree in Nursing or Master?s Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Prior leadership/supervisory experience
Intensive care or organ procurement organization experience
CCTC certified
Requires excellent communication and organizational skills
Must be able to function independently within the limits of the position
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
