About the opportunity:
Primarily responsible for supporting laboratory functions including specimen collection, specimen processing, report processing and distribution, phlebotomy, complex laboratory information system functions, waived testing, workflow coordination, office duties, ordering supplies, and customer support. Secondary responsibilities to include assisting providers with patient care, maintaining patient records, and completing administrative duties that assist in the management of patient care as needed.
What you will do:
Handles and processes specimens according to departmental protocols.
Stocks and checks expiration dates of collection supplies.
Monitors schedule and prioritizes blood draws to maintain efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Processes specimens timely to ensure best outcomes of testing and limiting the needs for recollections.
Coordinates with Colorado Mountain Medical Clinic staff/Leadership to ensure a high level of teamwork daily.
Interacts effectively and gains knowledge of processes between lab and internal/external lab clients.
Obtains, monitors, and records vital signs, patient history, and invasive procedures, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation in the patient?s Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Fields patient phone calls promptly and in a professional
Assists providers and other clinical sta? with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient
Prepares patient for scheduled procedures, including venipunctures, injections, and initiates intravenous therapy as
Monitors medical condition of patient and report change to appropriate
Maintains patient documentation and communicates plan of care with provider including ordered diagnostics or therapeutic
Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in examination Replaces supplies depleted. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures.
Provides independent medication administration in accordance with provider orders, compliance, and pertinent

Experience:
One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
2 years? experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties

State of Colorado Licensed Vocational Nurse or valid compact state license
Certification(s):
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing:
Cerner Millennium LIS system experience preferred.
