The role you’ll contribute:
The Renal Dialysis Care Technician is responsible for assisting and supporting the unit management team to achieve quality patient care in the home/SNF setting and promote patient satisfaction. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth Orlando’s service standards.
Adheres to established Policies and Procedures for the hospital as well as the Home Dialysis Services (Home Training Unit) Standards.
Performs hemodialysis care and patient’s treatment, appropriately utilizing dialysis equipment and water system. Maintains water quality in accordance to AAMI standards for Dialysis Units. Follows OSHA/ADVENTHEALTH infection control policy for the handling of blood and body substances. Maintains and reviews daily log on water delivery system. May be required to drop off specimens at a nearby shipping company.
Sets up dialysis machines per procedure and prepares dialysate according to formula. Reports all equipment, supply problems, new or unusual incidents to RN, CC, Bio-med or repair personnel. Establishes priorities of care both emergent and non-emergent and documents all pertinent information under the direction of an RN.
Explains procedure and operation of dialysis machine to new patients and answers any questions. Actively participates in the training and education of Home Dialysis patients. Obtains and records pre-dialysis assessments; connects patients to dialysis machines, begins procedures and monitors patient for any adverse reactions.
Develops and assimilates theoretical and technical knowledge with observations and communication skills to detect dialysis and non-dialysis related problems. Seeks resources when necessary.
Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing with diverse populations.

Flexibility in prioritization.
Ability to multitask.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize in house and external resources
Minimum 2 years Dialysis experience (acute or chronic setting)
CPR certification
Preferred:
Computer knowledge and skills
Successful completion of training course in theory and practice of Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis Technician Certification (BONENT)
Florida Certified Nurse Assistant
