Performs all routine and special Cytogenetics and/or FISH procedures, microscopic analysis, and maintains quality control. With minimum supervision, Cytogenetic technologist participates in trouble shooting, updating accessioning, current methods, and training of junior personnel when cleared by Supervisor.

Schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm
Technical Responsibilities
Routine Procedures:
Tissue culture procedures
Harvesting
Slide making
Slide banding
Automated imaging and karyotyping procedures
Karyotypes
Reagent preparation-ensures proper reagent preparation and reagent labeling.
FISH processing
FISH probing
FISH scoping
Trouble Shooting:
Performs and evaluates trouble shooting procedures independently or by instruction.
Documents all corrective actions as needed.
Quality Control:
Documents daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment.
Evaluates acceptability of results with signatory review.
Evaluation of modifications for improvement of current methods.
Assists in the validation of new test methods/instrumentation/reagents.
Participates in training junior personnel.
Job Qualifications
Bachelors in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology
ASCP required, Cytogenetic ASCP is preferred.
