The role you’ll contribute:
The Birth Coordinator provides direct and indirect services to various age groups in the obstetrical setting.The Birth Coordinator supports the team process and acts as an advocate for patients, families, and visitors.Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies.Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships both internally and externally.

Utilizes working knowledge of pregnancy, labor, delivery and post-partum care to identify individualized plans of care.Identifies needs and develops/modifies plan of care.Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and evaluates availability of support system consistent with the age of the patient served.Identifies the need for patient teaching and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis.
Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities.Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed.Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Acts as a liaison between the obstetrical unit and patients, physician office staff, patient’s families and/or significant others by rounding daily to determine the customer’s need and satisfaction with services provided.Assists in obtaining needed services. Reports patient, family, and/or significant other concerns to team members, supervisor, and/or Nurse Manager as indicated for resolution.Actively works on issues that can be resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Utilizes working knowledge of AdventHealth programs offered to expectant mothers.Offers resources, educating moms about programs, assisting with appointments and scheduling for programs such as Lactation, Prenatal Education, Pediatricians, Anesthesia, Baby Safety, etc.
Tours patients, families, and/or significant others pre-delivery.Provides information on the service and amenities of the AdventHealth Obstetrical Unit; triages telephone calls to the Obstetrical unit and provides requested information to potential customers in the community.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
RN with Obstetrics experience
Preferred qualifications:
BSN
MSN
