The Clinical Applications Specialist III acts as a subject matter experienced in the support of one or more clinical applications. This role demonstrates expertise in understanding the application functionality, reporting capability, interfacing and integration associated with clinical applications assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Application implementation, system integration, system configuration, system customization, upgrades/updates, user training, user access, high availability, and other duties as assigned.
Maintains changes to referential data, across clinical applications assigned. Reviews monthly clinical updates and keeps application data current with industry standards.
Helps the implementation of new functionality in the application, such as new interfaces, by contributing to clinical requirements definition, participating in testing and developing related workflows.
Tests new and existing functionality prior to application upgrades and releases.
Helps implement third-party software and related application modules by assisting with software configuration and the development of incorporated workflows.
Participates in user groups and forums to share experiences and solutions with other users from other health care systems.
Helps implement requirements from federal, state and local agencies by adjusting workflows and application setup to enable application users to comply with rules and regulations.
Develops policies and procedures on best practices with the electronic patient record and clearly communicates these to users and physicians.
Assists physicians in the definition of requirements for clinical content, e.g; forms, letters, pick-lists.
Oversees configuration changes and problem resolutions completed by other team members, to ensure accuracy and adherence to adopted standards.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of associated workflows and how the application(s) integrate with the clinical environment is essential.
Ability to know about complex technical or scientific information and effectively communicate it to other audience as needed.
Ability to use a variety of media to share documentation and communications; including word processor applications and web pages.
Ability to develop, produce and deliver training presentations to clinical and non-clinical personnel.
Self-starter able to work exclusively with minimal supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to identify new, build, expand and leverage existing relationships.
