Milwaukee, WI – Children's Wisconsin (Children's) and Children's Specialty Group (CSG), its academic pediatric specialty practice partner, seek a strategic, relational, forward-thinking clinician leader for the newly created role of Mental and Behavioral Health-in-Chief (MBHIC). In alignment with Children's academic partner, Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), which brings together the world's top scientists and clinicians, inspired students, and invested communities to solve the most complex challenges in health and society, the MBHIC will support the missions of clinical service, education, research, and community engagement to secure Children's position as a national leader in the field of pediatric mental and behavioral health.
In 2019, Children's committed $150 million to a 5-year plan to address mental and behavioral health needs among the state's children focused on identifying needs more quickly, improving access to service, and mitigating stigma. The initiatives include implementing universal screening for mental health and expanding school- based programs for mental and behavioral health across Wisconsin. The institution has since made tremendous progress fundraising and executing on the plan and the MBHIC will bring continued leadership to unite Children's, CSG, and MCW to reach their goals in this initiative.
Children's and its joint venture with MCW – CSG - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children's Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. More than 140 pediatricians, 240 pediatric specialists and 250 pediatric advanced practice providers providing care for children across Wisconsin.
As a member of the executive team of CSG and in alignment with MCW, the MBHIC will provide leadership of the Group's Divisions of Psychiatry and Psychology & Developmental Medicine, comprised of 70 physicians, psychologists, and advance practice providers. The MBHIC will continue to expand mental and behavioral health services through growth in volume, faculty and provider recruitment, integration across other departments and divisions, and development of future programs and service offerings. This position will ensure that, within mental and behavioral health services, the highest quality metrics are met and maintained.
The MBHIC will bring senior-level leadership experience within a well-regarded academic children's hospital setting with an exceptional reputation as a clinical provider and academician. Candidates must display a proven track record of creating and leading strategic initiatives requiring significant change management, collaboration, and engagement of diverse stakeholders, as well as a history of accomplishments across the clinical and academic missions. We seek candidates with a PhD, PsyD, MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine with the appropriate specialization, fellowship training, and/or board certification in the area of child and adolescent psychology or psychiatry. All candidates must meet eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of Children's professional staff, be eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin, and possess academic accomplishments that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher at the Medical College of Wisconsin. An advanced degree in Business, Health Administration, Public Health will be seen as a value-add.
