The role you’ll contribute:
The Virtual Patient Observer/PCT is responsible for monitoring patients who needs to be observed on a continual basis to quickly identify behavioral circumstances that could potentially impact their ongoing care and safety; communicating the safety status to the nurses or care team. Observation could be virtual or physically present. Maintains effective and timely communication with the nursing staff. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Continuously observes monitors/patient following nursing plan of care and through virtual, audible and/or physical observation, recognizes clinical (physical or psychological) significant changes that could potentially compromise patient care and safety. Notifies nursing staff promptly and accurately of any changes observed in patient’s condition.
Monitors alarms (VPO) per policy, standard operating procedure or work instructions. Verifies that monitor alarms are set to capture alarms that require immediate nursing interventions. Troubleshoots monitors as needed. Reports malfunctioning sequesters equipment and fill out work order forms in a timely manner.
Completes documents properly, timely, and in accordance with policies/standard operating procedures or work instructions. Documents in behavioral logbook and in any other necessary form as established.
Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member by performing patient care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse.
Participated in obtaining a nursing history. Reports abnormalities to RN.
Assists in identifying needs and developing/modifying plan of care.
Performs treatments according to policy and procedure. Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
Works without close supervision, consulting with RN and/or manager when appropriate, seeking approval and advice on situations outside personal authority and expertise.
Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in workload by altering working hours to assist in other areas as approved and observed by manage
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Florida Nursing Assistant Certification, Certified Patient Care Technician OR Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with comparable hospital experience, OR Florida RN license
Degree or certification in: Biomedical Science, Health Education, Healthcare Administration, Integrated Health Science, Psychology, Sociology, Completed 1st clinical semester of nursing program, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant
BLS certification
