Overview
Under the direction of the Operations Manager.
1. Assigns & monitors for completion daily telecommunication maintenance and support desk tasks to be accomplished by the Telecomm group.
2. Works collaboratively with the other I.S. Leads to meet customer service expectations. (Customer = patient, user department team member, I.S. team member, I.S. team member, physician and vendor)
3. Serves as a technical advisor for the OPS manager.
4. Responsible for all phones, voice mail and telephone systems. Maintaining daily up time and operations here and all BMC owned remote locations.
5. Responsible for all daily back-ups and restores of data if needed.
6. Responsible for maintaining daily 24/7 operation schedule of Telecom resources and ensures staff is available when on-call.
7. Actively participates on the planning of all I.T. projects as it relates to the Telecomm group and assigns and monitors progress of the Telecomm technicians.
8. Responsible for all the closets and cabling maintaining EIA/TIA standard throughout BMC and its remote locations.
9. Works collaboratively with Network Lead to assign proper cable pathway and overview of all cable maps.
10. Ensures operability of systems including: install, repair, relocate telephone lines and equipment and maintain the hospital telephone and paging system.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates ability to plan and organize work flow to maximize productivity while maintaining quality, safety and customer satisfaction.. Assists in the development of PDCA systems to implement and monitor process improvements and take action where appropriate. Ensures team members maintain departmental policies/procedures, and adhere to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards/requirements. Supports department by monitoring regulatory/accreditation compliance. Takes actions to address deficiencies as appropriate. Trains new and current team members and students. Ensures that orientation and training checklists are completed. Makes sure that annual mandatory education is completed and competencies are assessed and documented. Provides feedback to leadership about team members' performance, including need for coaching, counseling, disciplinary action. Assists leadership in completing initial and annual performance appraisals. Recommends/Assists with the preparation of departmental training and education, quality and safety programs and performance improvement projects. Acts as resource person for daily operations within the department, section or unit. Very knowledgeable about the specific aspects/technical details of the job, and readily share knowledge with others. Participates in the interview process and provides feedback on candidates. Prioritizes and coordinates assignments and work requests from hospital departments / personnel related to installation, repair, and maintenance of communications equipment and systems; Requisition materials and equipment for work to be performed. Respond to and resolve telecommunication-related problems or complaints raised by physicians, patients, and staff. Ensure Telecommunications Specialists perform their duties in a professional and responsive manner. Maintain liaison and communication with telephone company and other external communication-related organizations to insure and maintain external local and long distance communication service. Administer maintenance of hospital paging system. Maintain Beebe Medical Center pager system through Redicall. Maintain call accounting systems for all departments to a directory level. Responsible for data line interfaces to Beebe Medical Center and Family Health Centers- Through Verizon Bell. Archive all internal and external call forward record Database changes. Implementation and maintenance of voicemail and other telecommunication software packages. Assist and work with other trades personnel as required; act as work crew leader when project work requires it. Coordinate installation of telecommunication and network cables. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications in connection with telephone and paging system installations and repairs. Maintains appropriate manuals, blueprints, and other such materials. Evaluates effectiveness of the telecommunications system-software and equipment; submits recommendations and proposals for replacements and or upgrades. Keep work areas orderly, clean and safe; care for and maintain department equipment and supplies. Maintains records, reports and statistics as required. Responsible for the selection, training and orientation of telecommunication specialists and telephone operators. Gives input to Operations Manager for the evaluation of performance. Performs other duties a requested.
Qualifications
Three to five years experience in telephone system installation and repair.
