SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The anesthesia technician/SPD technician assists the anesthesia provider in maintaining proper anesthesia supplies and equipment. The position maintains and troubleshoots issues on the equipment (which includes anesthesia machines, video towers for difficult intubation, monitoring equipment etc.) to ensure proper functioning at all times. The anesthesia technician/SPD technician works with residents, physicians, nurses and Supply Chain to provide proper and cost-effective supplies and equipment. This position also assists with the turnover of rooms. Other duties include include, but are not limited to decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of reusable instruments, utensils, trays, carts, and equipment; assembly of case carts; pick-up and delivery of all reusable items to using areas; and monitoring of the sterilization process.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: One year experience in a hospital setting (operating room or sterile processing preferred) or graduate of an anesthesia technician or SPD program. Planning, problem solving, strong organizational skills and a working knowledge of aseptic technique required. License/Certification: BLS Required
