The professional in this position provides strategic business and analytical advice and support to CEO, President and the Board of Directors. Together with the executive team and board of directors, the Chief Financial Officer maintains the integrity and viability of the corporation for its shareholders.Major Responsibilities:
- Develops and oversees the budget of Northwest Permanente and provides leadership in development and monitoring of budget and budgetary controls. Establishes short and long-range financial plans, budgets and business plans.
- Provides financial leadership in operational areas.
- Analyzes and reports on Kaiser Permanente Northwest's financial performance and risks to executive leaders and the Board of Directors.
- Oversees controller and accounting functions as well as manages relationship with contracted accounting firm. Manages additional administrative functions as assigned.
- Supervises taxation and annual tax return processes along with filing of all corporate returns and pension regulatory forms with regulatory agencies.
- Manages Northwest Permanente's financial assets including active investment of long- and short-term assets.
- Negotiates major investments and contracts, including the annual medical group contract Memorandum of Understanding with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals. Serves as a key liaison between the organization and regional leadership for fiscal operations.
Minimum Education, Certification and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
- Fifteen (15) years in finance, accounting or related field.
- Ten (10) years progressive experience in finance management and strategic planning.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state and regulatory accounting and reporting regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiating.
- Ability to work effectively with key stakeholders and to lead professionals through influence and collaboration.
- Experience in the health care industry and knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid programs.
- Master's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or related field preferred.
