Job Summary:
As a member of the Analytics and Strategic Initiatives team, the Prospect Analyst supports fundraising efforts at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The primary focus of this position is to assist with prospect development and pipeline growth. The Prospect Analyst evaluates current and future research and portfolio needs to create actionable deliverables for team members, development officers, and leadership. In collaboration with VUMC Development colleagues, this role analyzes, synthesizes, and interprets internal and external prospect data to develop strategies that advance VUMC's philanthropic priorities.

Primary Function:
- Complete research requests from clients and manage ongoing need to grow the donor and grateful patient pipeline.
- Proactively identify potential major and principal gift donors to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to enhance fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate and strategize with colleagues regarding pipeline health and development.
- Analyze portfolios, the prospect pool, and the pipeline at-large.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Fulfill proactive and reactive research needs for clients (development officers, development leadership and medical center leadership), enabling them to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
- Consult with clients to determine feasibility of requests and special projects.
- Identify new prospects using database segmentation, wealth screening databases, public information, donor and grateful patient reports, and news reviews.
- Analyze and interpret data to calculate wealth estimates, capacity ratings, and a prospect's inclination to make philanthropic contributions to the medical center.
- Build a broad understanding of prospect management and portfolio tracking best practices.
- Collaborate with Analytics and Strategic Initiatives colleagues to create detailed descriptive and visual analysis of the pipeline and prospect pool.
- Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines as indicated by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA), VUMC and HIPAA.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) (Required)
- 1-2 years experience (Required)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in prospect research, portfolio management, university advancement, healthcare development, non-profit operations, or field with transferable skillset (e.g. finance, real estate, library science).
- Ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, and present complex information while handling confidential matters with care and discretion.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exemplary communication, organizational and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of electronic research tools and techniques, internet search methodologies, news alerts, and wealth screening databases.
- Knowledge of Advance, Raiser's Edge, or another fundraising CRM database.
