Overview
The Certified Health Coach will work as part of Beebe Healthcare's employee wellness program to improve the health and wellbeing of its team member population. This role involves providing one-on-one coaching, group sessions, workshops, and personalized strategies and action planning for behavior and lifestyle changes to support team members in achieving their health and wellbeing goals. The Health Coach will focus on physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, promoting work/life wellbeing and fostering a positive work environment. This individual will also help to reduce burnout, improve engagement, and promote overall wellness within our team member community.
Responsibilities
Individual Health Coaching:
Provide personalized coaching to team members to assess their current health status, identify goals, and create action plans for achieving optimal health.
Provide guidance in areas such as weight management, nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, and mental health.
Develop tailored strategies to meet individual needs and follow-up to track progress, reassess goals, and adjust plans as necessary.
Connect team members to primary care clinicians and specialists when need to establish with a physician/APC is identified.
Collaborate with Community Health Worker to address identified non-clinical needs/barriers.
Group Health Coaching & Workshops:
Lead wellness workshops, group coaching sessions, and seminars to address common health concerns among healthcare team members.
Obtain certification to facilitate the National Diabetes Prevention Program, self-management workshops, AHA’s Healthy Heart Ambassador, and other programs as identified.
Encourage group participation, foster supportive community environments, and motivate employees to engage with the program.
Health and Wellness Education:
Provide educational resources, tools, and evidence-based information to team members on a variety of health-related topics.
Promote resources available through the healthcare system (e.g., Employee Assistance Program, fitness programs, etc.) to help employees make informed choices about their health.
Behavioral Health Support:
Offer support to employees who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, or burnout, and provide tools and coping strategies that support mental wellbeing.
Identify employees who may benefit from mental/behavioral health services and/or counseling and refer them to appropriate internal or external resources.
Collaboration with Healthcare System Leadership:
Work closely with management, employee health, and benefits team to align health coaching initiatives with organizational goals.
Provide feedback and insights on employee wellbeing trends, challenges, and successes to help inform system-wide health initiatives and policies.
Promote and contribute to the development of a supportive, wellbeing-conscious organizational culture.
Tracking and Reporting:
Use wellness tracking tools, surveys, and assessments to monitor employee health progress and engagement with coaching services.
Maintain confidential records of coaching sessions, goal-setting progress, and outcomes for individual team members.
Prepare reports on the effectiveness of wellness programs, including health improvements, employee satisfaction, and engagement metrics.
Promoting Work-Life Wellbeing:
Encourage team members to prioritize self-care, time management, and balance between personal and professional life.
Promote evidence-based practices that reduce burnout and improve resilience, fostering a sustainable and healthy work environment.
Apply evidence-based practices and adapt coaching strategies based on emerging health information.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Certified Health Coach (e.g., National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC) American Council on Exercise (ACE), Wellcoaches, or equivalent certification).
Experience in health coaching and wellness program management with a strong understanding of healthcare team member challenges.
Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve wellness goals.
Knowledge of nutrition, physical fitness, mental health strategies, and behavior change principles.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple coaching sessions and wellness initiatives.
Experience working within a healthcare system or with healthcare professionals is a plus.
Credentials

Beebe Healthcare serves the Sussex County community with a medical center located in beautiful, historic Lewes, Delaware, and convenient outpatient locations throughout the county. Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services. Beebe offers an array of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services.
Beebe's five satellite campuses offer imaging, physical rehabilitation, and lab services, as well as walk-in care centers. In addition, Beebe offers Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine and Diabetes Management & Medical Nutrition Therapy.
With a mission to serve the community, Beebe also offers many free screenings and outreach programs through its Population Health Department; and advanced medical care for those who are recuperating at home through Beebe Home Care Services.
Beebe is also training the next generation of nurses through the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing, located behind the Medical Cente...r in Lewes.
