Job Summary
The Administrative Director ("Director") directs the operations and strategic planning of patients/customer services, human resources, and financial management for assigned departments.
The Director assists with program development pursuing opportunities consistent with the business plan and operational support needs. The Director represents Denver Health in professional and civic meetings, national, state, and local conferences and conventions and creates and maintains a culture of performance improvement and change management using Lean and other tools. Monitors supplies, eliminating waste and unnecessary inventory. Enhances employee engagement by providing the resources, support and tools to work in the form of extra time, brainpower and energy. Mentors, guides and coaches direct reports in order to expand their capabilities and build management depth in the organization for succession planning.
Supervises assigned administrative and medical personnel. Prepares and assists with all regulatory reviews, ensuring compliance and adherence to hospital and departmental policies, objectives and operational procedures by department heads. Collaborates with Nursing and Medical Leadership.
Essential Functions:
Strategy and Planning Assists in determinining the priorities, goals and objectives of the division or work functions assigned. Develops and integrates the individual unit plans and strategies into overall organizational division plans to achieve maximum division output and contribution to the corporate strategy. Administers and serves as primary contact for contracts. Oversees preparation of divisional operating plans. Anticipates and effectively deals with market, customer, or social trends that could enhance the organization's opportunities or adversely impact business results. (25%)
Program Development Directs program development and participates in reviewing and approving the short and long range operating objectives and plans for areas of responsibility. (20%)
Project Management Directs special projects. Submits budget for approval, makes recommended adjustments and ensures all necessary requested documentation/information be provided. Exercises expenditure control. Responsible for service agreements. Develops business plans for all new initiatives and/or proposals. (20%)
Policy and Practice Provides input to policy development. Resolves operational and unforeseen procedural problems and address other concerns as directed. (10%)
Fiscal and Resource Management Assist in planning, directing, and controlling the financial resources for the Department. Contribute to the annual budget planning process, by managing and tracking income and expenses related to staff and the use of financial resources for business operations. Monitors supplies, eliminating waste and unnecessary inventory. (10%)
Staff Management Trains staff, advises, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges staff at multiple levels. Delegates responsibility and authority over operational functions to subordinate managers or supervisors. Supervises administrative and support personnel ensuring duties and tasks flow without overlap or unnecessary hand-offs. Enhances employee engagement by providing the resources, support and tools to work in the form of extra time, brainpower and energy. Mentors, guides and coaches direct reports in order to expand their capabilities and build management depth in the organization for succession planning. (10%)
Audit and Compliance Assists with or oversees regulatory reviews and preparation for review. (5%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Concentration in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Health or related field required.
Work Experience:
7-9 years directly related experience required.
4-6 years as a manager or supervisor at the departmental level required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Communication skills to interact effectively with Denver Health?s current service/client base, prospective customers, and all levels of Denver Health personnel.
Financial Acumen - Ability to perform financial analyses including forecasting, assisting in exploring strategic options and developing creative solutions to complex business issues. Ability to direct profit and loss, revenue generation, and expenditure control to optimize the utilization of resources at minimum cost. Ability to interpret and analyze financial and statistical information.
Problem solving - the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action.
Statistical Analysis - Ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.
Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
