The Center for Health Justice and Bioethics (formerly Center for Urban Bioethics, name change pending)at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates for the tenure-track position of Bioethics Assistant or Associate Professor.
Primary responsibilities include:
Seeking extramural funding to support your work in bioethics and health justice
Teaching a bioethics and health justice survey/introduction course in the fall and spring, as well as an elective course on a topic of your choosing every other year
Contributing to bioethics teaching to MD students and PA students at the Katz School of Medicine
Collaborating with other Center faculty on projects related to health justice
The successful candidate will have demonstrated and growing bioethics scholarship, specifically attention to health justice and addressing inequalities. We are open to any field of study, including social science, law, public health, philosophy, and others, if the candidate is committed to health justice.
The Center for Health Justice and Bioethics envisions a world that creates and sustains the conditions and resources to support a collective right to health for all people. Through education, research, and community capacity building, the Center for Health Justice and Bioethics generates and disseminates knowledge about approaches to health justice and develops future generations of health professionals equipped to work toward justice. We host a master’s program in bioethics and health justice and house more than 10 core faculty members and a dozen affiliated faculty from various disciplines and professions. We collaborate closely with Temple University Health System and partner with the North Philadelphia community.

Candidate Qualifications: PhD, JD, or equivalent degree and a strong academic record. We will consider diverse expertise and qualifications, emphasizing bioethics teaching, writing, and research.
