We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as our Department Chair for our Psychiatry and Behavioral Health division.In this position, you willbe accountable for the overall administrative, strategic and clinical leadership of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.
Responsibilities:
Ensure comprehensive, patient-centered health care delivery across inpatient, emergency and consultation departments
Develop the structure, operations, goals and workforce for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, with a focus on building a high-performing, multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care, improve patient outcomes and enhance operational efficiency
Provide guidance and leadership for the Grayken Center for Treatment, ensuring alignment with South Shore Health’s goals and priorities
Advance innovation, promote evidence-based care and ensure long-term sustainability, further strengthening the Grayken Center’s role as a regional leader in integrated behavioral health and addiction treatment
Work closely with Aspire, the largest of the three state-designated Community Behavioral Health Centers (CBHCs) serving South Shore Health’s region, to optimize emergency psychiatric evaluations, discharge workflows and care pathways to ensure timely access to community-based behavioral health resources
Oversee the professional conduct, clinical practice and credentialing of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) within the department
Serve as an active member of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), contributing to systemwide strategic planning, policy development and decision-making processes
Identify and develop regional opportunities for partnerships with inpatient psychiatric facilities, community-based programs and academic institutions to address care gaps, improve patient transitions and enhance the overall behavioral health ecosystem
Oversee the department’s financial performance, including budget development, resource allocation and fiscal accountability, to ensure sustainable operations and strategic growth
Qualifications:
MD or DO with board certification in Psychiatry; advanced training in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred
Current MA medical license
5+ years of experience in psychiatric care management; administrative and clinical leadership experience, as well as experience in inpatient and emergency department psychiatric services is preferred

The Grayken Center for Treatment
The Grayken Center for Treatment is a person-centered collection of substance use disorder (SUD) and behavioral health services and programs that "meet people where they are." We work closely with South Shore Hospital's Emergency Department and inpatient Addiction Medicine Consult Service. The Grayken Center offers outpatient care and treatment for individuals aged 18 and older at three programs: The Bridge Program, the Perinatal Behavioral Health Program and the SHORE Program.
