Provides support to patients, their families, and physicians in addressing any plan- or benefit-related policies such as sick leave, accident leave, short- and long-term disability, FMLA, etc. Responsible for oversight, application and administration of all leave programs supporting qualified absences due to occupational and non-occupational events. Educates patients and families to make informed decisions. Facilitates communication between patient, physician and plan provider. Creates and manages corporate return to work programs. Provides a centralized, strategic focus to reduce lost time accidents & indemnity days paid rates. Reviews departments' return to work efforts and provide strategic focus to improve results. Ensures compliance with state & federal laws.
Essential Functions:
Review submitted medical documentation and requests additional information as needed to determine the appropriateness of leave of absence and eligibility under company, federal, and state plans. Ensure all required documentation is accurately completed and maintained, including medical certifications and return-to-work notes. (30%)
Manage caseloads, organize priorities, provide timely interventions, and maintain sensitivity to confidential records and ensure quality standards for case management are met. (25%)
Conducts follow-ups on the status of all cases, monitors usage, tracks return-to-work status, and addresses issues with employees and their immediate supervisors. (10%)
Communicates and works with variety of internal and external sources such as attorneys, physicians, providers, payroll, vendors to achieve timely and prompt resolution of claim. (10%)
Determine optimal recovery durations based on the diagnosis, job classification, individual factors, treatment and rehabilitation, psychosocial consideration, and establish return-to-work expectations through proactive case management (10%)
Conducts the research, analysis, investigation, and assessment of disability claims to determine appropriate actions and eligibility for benefits. (5%)
Serve as the subject matter expert for leave of absences, including company leave, state and federal leaves, and disability leave plan. (5%)
Facilitate the transition of short-term disability claims to a third-party long-term disability vendor. (5%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field. Required or
Work Experience:
4-6 years Experience working in leave management and/or clinical setting Required
