Your Impact
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of the Hospital System, you will:
• Lead a team and serve as system subject matter expert and advisor responsible for all regulatory reimbursement functions and trends. Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other regulatory requirements.
• Optimize reimbursement strategies to support UCLA Health’s financial strength and growth and partner with finance leadership to perform reimbursement strategic financial modeling (long-term planning, new partnerships, expansion, etc.)
• Drive accurate financial reporting, planning and decision-making by properly valuing accounts receivable, net patient revenue and supplemental governmental funding. Analyze and use KPIs for accounts receivable, bad debt, denials and collection rates.
• Collaborate with leaders across UCLA Health, Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and the University of California Office of the President.
Qualifications
What You Bring
We’re looking for a strategic, analytical finance leader who thrives in a complex healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Seven or more years of experience of comprehensive knowledge of CMS and Medicaid regulations, cost reporting principles and preparation, and coordination of associated audits. Knowledge of California Medi-Cal reimbursement strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in academic medical center reimbursement structures and processes including General Medical Education reimbursement compliance and cost-based transplant programs.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting principles for accounts receivable and patient revenue valuation. Experience in preparing net patient revenue budget preferred.
• Working knowledge of revenue cycle processes and patient account review. Strong partner and advisor with accounting and revenue cycle leadership to provide financial and analytic support to identify and escalate issues.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and large data analysis, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with electronic record systems and software for accounts receivable and net patient revenue valuation.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, revenue codes, hospital billing, and claims processing.
Compensation & Benefits
Full salary range for this grade of position is $157,400 - $380,600 with an actual salary target of $290,000 - $330,000 depending on experience
