Position Summary:
The Department of Exercise Science & Health Promotion (ESHP) in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in the discipline of nutrition, R.D.N. preferred.
The ESHP Department and FAU, a very high research (R1) university, offer a collegial and collaborative working environment, with core laboratories, shared facilities, strong cross- disciplinary research, and graduate-training programs with diverse faculty expertise. Responsibilities include research, teaching, and service. Candidates must have a strong publication record and a strong potential for securing external funding to support their research. A minimum of one year of post-doctoral experience is preferred. We seek candidates who foster and create educational opportunities where all student populations thrive. A competitive salary and start-up funding will be provided.
Research/Scholarship Responsibilities –Candidates will develop and continue to maintain an independent research program in the discipline of nutrition. Expertise may include intervention-based research in community nutrition and nutrition education, among others. The registered dietitian Nutritionist (R.D.N.) credential is preferred.
Teaching Responsibilities – Teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education are expected. Candidates will teach nutrition and health promotion/lifestyle courses. Both in-person and online teaching will be expected.
Service Responsibilities – Candidates are expected to serve on Departmental, College and University committees, and provide professional service to external entities related to their field of expertise.
