The Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation is seeking a Senior Director of Development to lead high-level fundraising efforts for Baylor Scott & White Health, Texas?s largest not-for-profit healthcare system. This senior position requires a professional with a proven track record in managing a portfolio of transformational donors (seven- and eight-figure gifts) and driving strategic fundraising initiatives that result in significant, multi-year contributions.
The Senior Director will cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gift donors, applying their expertise in complex fundraising to secure transformational support. This role will collaborate closely with hospital and system leadership, identifying and prioritizing funding opportunities while aligning donor interests with institutional needs.
Additionally, the Senior Director will work with Foundation and System leadership, key donors, and board members to shape and execute multi-year initiatives that drive long-term impact.
Essential Functions of the Role
Manage a portfolio of approximately 20-30 transformational donors and prospects, including those capable of making seven- and eight-figure gifts, with a focus on long-term, multi-year relationships.
Develop and implement strategic donor engagement and solicitation plans that align with the Foundation?s annual and long-term financial goals.
Act as a key spokesperson and frontline fundraiser for the Foundation, articulating a clear and compelling case for support to high-value donors.
Translate complex concepts (including medical research, clinical advancements and business models) into clear, compelling narratives for donors while mentoring colleagues to do the same.
Engage and support board members, campaign committees, and key stakeholders in donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Plan and execute high-impact donor engagement activities, events, and stewardship initiatives to strengthen philanthropic partnerships.
Provide leadership and mentorship within the development team, fostering a culture of collaboration and fundraising excellence.
Perform other position-appropriate duties in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
Key Success Factors
Proven track record of securing principal gifts ($1M+) and leading multi-year fundraising initiatives.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence to engage and inspire donors, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities to manage complex projects, portfolios, and multi-year fundraising efforts.
Attention to detail, a growth mindset, and an ongoing curiosity to drive continuous improvement in fundraising strategies and donor engagement.
Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders, both inside and outside the Foundation.
Experience in crafting compelling proposals that effectively communicate the need for transformational support.
Experience in healthcare or nonprofit sectors preferred, with a deep understanding of fundraising in mission-driven organizations.
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of experience in major gift fundraising, particularly with principal gifts.
Proficient in working with data to drive strategic decisions, manage donor relationships, and track progress towards fundraising goals.
Experience with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft 365) and client data management platforms, with a proven ability to quickly learn new systems.
