The role you’ll contribute:
Under supervision, the Advanced Endoscopy Technician is the primary assistant to the physician performing the procedure. They possess the knowledge and skills for assisting physicians for Endoscopy cases which may include advanced endoscopic procedures for patients with complex digestive health issues with minimal direction. The Advanced Endoscopy Technician participates with patient care in the Endoscopy procedure room by performance of technical and other delegated duties. Maintains, cares for, and disinfects/sterilize all scopes and equipment. The Advanced Endoscopy technician maintains the endoscopy equipment, transports the patient, assists in patient care delivery under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Advanced Endoscopy Technician adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable Local, State, Federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equallyrespectful to all.

May assist the physician in performing endoscopic procedures performed on high acuity / high risk patients which may include but not limited to: Grade III Complex ERCP procedures, SPYGlass (cholangioscopy), complex endomucosal resection, Sphincter of Oddi manometry, pancreatic endotherapy (stenting), Ultrasound-guided interventions, Peroral endoscopic myotomy procedures, double balloon enteroscopies, endosuturing, Cystgastroscopy (irrigation and removal of necrotic tissue resulting from pancreatic pseudocyst), ESD (endoscopic submucosal dissection), Endoscopic Vac therapy, Overstitch (Endoscopic Suturing), BARRX, Endoflip.
May assist with complex Pulmonary procedures including Navigation Bronchoscopies, and Endobronchial Ultrasound procedures.
Appropriately selects and operates the appropriate equipment and accessories for all Endoscopy cases that may include advanced procedures. Troubleshoots equipment issues as needed. Anticipates needs of physician during the procedure to assist with obtaining biopsies, stent placement, and obtaining images.
Demonstrates knowledge of procedure-specific lasers and selects appropriate laser fibers and supplies for the procedure. Adheres to all safety standards related to the use of the laser. Collaborates with the AdventHealth Laser Safety Officer to provide annual safety in-services for Endo staff.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Highschool diploma or GED.
One year experience as an endoscopy technician, or other comparable health care role.
Experience in assisting GI physicians with complex advanced procedures in GI or Pulmonary such as (ERCP, Spyglass, Pancreatic endotherapy, EUS-guided biliary and pancreatic ductal interventions, Navigation bronchoscopy, EBUS).
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
•HSPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessing
•CBSPD Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessing
•SGNA – GI Technical Specialist (GTS) Associate Program
•SGNA – Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS)Advanced Associate Program
