Hampton VAMC is recruiting for 1 Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeon for the North Battlefield Clinic - Chesapeake VA. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until 9/30/2025 or until the position is filled.

Duties

• VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package
• Duties include but are not limited to the following: Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures
• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions
• Accomplish admissions - work-up and performance of surgical procedures - reductions of facial fractures - placement of dental implants and biopsy procedures
• Provide safe and effective anesthesia services in the outpatient setting including intravenous sedation/general anesthesia
• The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective - restorative - or preventive measures
• The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) defines oral and maxillofacial surgery as that part of dental practice which \"encompasses the diagnosis - surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases - injuries - and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions.\" The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons (ASMS) further specifies that maxillofacial surgery deals with the lower two­ thirds of the face - the lower portion of the orbital cavity - the maxilla - and the mandible
• This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program
• You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment
• Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application
• Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply
