Are you a compassionate, forward-thinking leader with a passion for improving the mental health of our nation’s heroes? The Veterans Administration (VA) Central California Health Care System is seeking a dedicated and visionary Chief of Mental Health to join our team in Fresno, CA.
Position Overview
As the Chief of Mental Health, you will lead a multidisciplinary team committed to providing innovative, compassionate care to our veterans. This leadership role allows you to drive clinical excellence, promote mental health well-being, and oversee a department dedicated to the mental health needs of those who served our country. This position includes a faculty appointment with the University of San Francisco at Fresno, offering you opportunities to engage in academic medicine, mentor future mental health professionals, and participate in education and research.
Compensation
Salary Range: $325,000 to $335,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
Performance Bonus: May include up to $15,000 annually based on meeting performance goals.
Sign-On Bonus: Candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of the Mental Health Department, including clinical services, patient care, and community mental health outreach.
Oversee the development and implementation of innovative, evidence-based treatment programs.
Mentor and guide a team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and mental health nurses.
Foster collaboration with hospital leadership to ensure mental health services align with the VA’s overall mission.
Participate in academic activities as part of the faculty appointment, including teaching, research, and mentoring students.

Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology, or equivalent mental health qualifications.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a mental health setting.
Proven expertise in clinical psychiatry or psychology, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Experience mentoring and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Passion for academic medicine and collaboration with the University of San Francisco at Fresno.

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, providing care at 1,321 health care facilities, including 172 VA Medical Centers and 1,138 outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics) to over 9 million Veterans enrolled in the VA health care program.
