Overview
Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor, the Distribution Specialist plays a crucial role in the seamless operation of Beebe Medical Center and its Family Health Centers. Responsible for receiving, inspecting, verifying, controlling, storing, and accurately issuing materials, supplies, and equipment across all departments, this position ensures the efficient flow of resources essential to patient care and operational continuity.
Responsibilities
Audit exchange carts, par level stock areas, and stock on hand to ensure accuracy and readiness for patient care.
Remove outdated sterile or unused supplies regularly and coordinate their return to distribution or appropriate disposal.
Maintain the supply support system in patient care areas, ensuring availability and proper organization of supplies.
Inventory and restock all carts and par level storage areas promptly and accurately.
Ensure Distribution maintains adequate stock levels to support exchange carts and par level stocking areas.
Obtain supplies from stores as needed and maintain efficient supply chain processes.
Prepare and process inventory documentation such as stock issue requisitions and return to stock credits accurately.
Pull orders and deliver supplies promptly to requesting departments, maintaining a high level of service.
Utilize proper storage and distribution techniques to preserve supply integrity and ensure regulatory compliance.
Ensure supplies are properly located and identified in all supply and cart areas.
Document, identify, and rotate stock appropriately, removing outdated materials as necessary.
Recommend adjustments to stock levels based on usage trends and operational needs.
Apply charge codes to supplies accurately and prepare necessary documentation for patient account billing.
Ensure all chargeable supplies are properly labeled with stickers for accountability.
Set traction frames, issue patient care equipment, and maintain accurate documentation and tracking.
Receive incoming materials, supplies, and equipment, verifying shipment accuracy and condition.
Inspect shipments for damages or defects, document discrepancies, and notify appropriate personnel for resolution.
Hold damaged goods until claims are resolved and process necessary documentation for payment authorization.
Stock shelves in main stores and ensure timely delivery to departments as needed.
Ship packages using various carriers like Federal Express, UPS, and others, maintaining shipping records and ensuring pickups are scheduled promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to hospital support services and assisting with tasks outside regular responsibilities when needed.
Additional Notes: As part of our hospital's support services team, flexibility and readiness to assist with diverse duties beyond routine tasks are essential.
Qualifications
One year experience working with patient care supplies and equipment is preferred. An understanding of the use/purpose of Medical/Surgical supplies and equipment helpful; experience with storage and distribution of supplies desirable. On the job training is provided. Ability to work independently in a quick and professional manner. Ability to communicate well and expediently handle clerical control systems is required.

Beebe Healthcare serves the Sussex County community with a medical center located in beautiful, historic Lewes, Delaware, and convenient outpatient locations throughout the county. Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services. Beebe offers an array of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services.
Beebe's five satellite campuses offer imaging, physical rehabilitation, and lab services, as well as walk-in care centers. In addition, Beebe offers Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine and Diabetes Management & Medical Nutrition Therapy.
With a mission to serve the community, Beebe also offers many free screenings and outreach programs through its Population Health Department; and advanced medical care for those who are recuperating at home through Beebe Home Care Services.
Beebe is also training the next generation of nurses through the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing, located behind the Medical Cente...r in Lewes.
Beebe's Medical Staff has grown tremendously since the early 1990s. Employed physicians through Beebe Medical Group and our affiliated physicians on Beebe's Medical Staff now serve patients from Milford to Millville in specialties including cardiac surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, family practice, gastroenterology, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatric neurology, and surgical oncology.
