SUMMARY OF POSITION:
We are currently seeking qualified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner candidates for an intensivist position in The Heart and Vascular Institute Critical Care Unit (HVICCU). Our 30-bed unit currently consists of: Intensivists and Advance Practice Providers providing 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days per year management of cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, cardiology, interventional and mechanical circulatory support patients; including those who have undergone cardiac surgical procedures such as CABG, valve surgery, LVADS, ECMO, and cardiac transplantation.
APPs are responsible for direct critical care patient management in the HVICCU. This includes management of complex therapies such as: IABP, Impella, VADs, ECMO, CRRT, Respiratory Ventilators, Inotropes, Vasopressors, Vasoactive Intravenous Medications. Actively participates in daily rounds on patients during post-operative phases of care, performs assessments, and makes medical management plan revisions in collaboration with physicians, consulted services, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams. Performs procedures including placement of A-line, central line, Swan Ganz catheter, removal of IABP, chest tubes and cardiac pacer wires.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Either (A) Master's Degree in a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one-year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) and (3) years critical care experience as a staff nurse required; OR (B) Master's Degree in an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one-year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) and (3) or more years critical care experience as a staff nurse required.
Must be licensed and in good standing with the state of Pennsylvania board of nursing as a CRNP.
Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification.
National certification as an advanced practice nurse required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Ability to diagnose and formulate a medical management plan required.
Ability to communicate with interdisciplinary team, patients, and families during critical situations required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
