Job Description
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are looking for a trained Technologist to join our innovative Blood Bank laboratory!
Role Overview:
- Reviews requisitions and orders, verifies accuracy of corresponding specimens, documents specimen collection information in LIS, accurately, and updates, as necessary.
- Assures the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures. Performs routine and advanced equipment maintenance.
- Contributes to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assures a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area. Maintains adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
- Provides direction, training, and feedback on all laboratory procedures, as assigned. Trains other technologists in specialty area.
- Assists lab management in department orientation of trainees and discusses the schedule. Verifies that all preliminary paperwork, passwords, safety and HIPAA trainings are completed. Prepares schedules with required elements of teaching for all levels of trainees in the various laboratory sections, coordinating the activities with section supervisors and senior staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or equivalent
- 5 years' experience as a NYS Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist OR 4 years with a Masters' degree
- Blood bank experience

- Ability to work with diverse workforce and must possess good human relation skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, ongoing commitment to upgrading job skills, teaching skills desirable
- Demonstration of good organizational skills and ability to function independently with strong leadership qualities
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of investigators, technical personnel and regulatory staff
- Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities, sound written and oral communication skills

- Location: 1250 1st Ave., New York, NY 10065
- Shift: 3p-11p M-F; every 3rd Weekend
Pay Range: $45.29-$72.42
