Job Summary
Under minimal supervision and working closely with operational leaders/staff, this role is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of communication and education for users of Epic (the electronic health record (EHR) used at Denver Health). The Instructional Designer maintains and updates software training environments, curriculums, and e-learnings and anticipates training challenges and opportunities for existing staff and newly hired employees. Additionally, this role monitors for training program effectiveness, reviews and evaluates work, and prepares performance reports.
Essential Functions:
Analyze content, target audience, job tasks, and learner environment to identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learning objectives (15%)
Design, develop, and revise curriculums, job aids, bulletins, instructor led class design and deliver, and computer-based training based on workflow research and analysis, collaboration with stakeholders, and a thorough understanding of the EHR (15%)
Project management including the creation and monitoring of timelines and collaboration with peers (15%)
Deliver content and track training in a learning management system (15%)
Act as liaison with users, taking time to understand their needs and developing relationships through interpersonal skills and effective, consistent communication (15%)
Solicit and incorporate feedback and results metrics to improve design processes and products (15%)
Manage and maintain collaborative relationships and knowledge sharing across the training team and the Denver Health organization, Epic, and other Epic organizations (10%)
Education:
Associate's Degree required.
Work Experience:
1-3 years of adult education, corporate training, or K-12 through post-secondary teaching experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ability to evaluate the communication needs of a given audience and deliver effective oral and written communication is a must
Candidates should have knowledge of instructional design methods and design principles, and/or relevant clinical knowledge
Ability to communicate between user and technical groups required
Knowledge of instructional design methods and design principles preferred
Experience developing print, web, and/or e-learning materials using Adobe Acrobat, Creative Suite, Captivate, Snagit or other tools preferred
Ability to use audiovisual equipment and create multi-media presentations preferred
Proven skill with Adobe products preferred
