CLINICAL SUPERVISING DIETITIAN
Natividad may offer up to a $15,000.00 sign-on bonus to candidates hired into a full-time position.
Natividad currently has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Clinical Supervising Dietitian, Reporting to the Hospital Director of Food Services, the incumbent will supervise the Dietary staff and programs to ensure that patient assessment and dietary consultative requirements are met by the Hospital Food Services' nutritional division, as well as patient nutritional requirements; and will perform other related duties as required.
Example of Duties:
Plans, directs, leads and evaluates the work of Registered Dietitians and Dietary Aides.
Ensures Dietitians provide appropriate diets to patients as prescribed by practitioners.
Provides for and maintains the therapeutic diet manual, in conjunction with medical staff.
Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and the use of observations, auditing and inspections of diets provided to patients.
Audits and ensures the proper documentation of the patient counseling process, recordkeeping and patient file maintenance performed by Clinical Dietitians and Dietitian Aides.
Assists in the development and updates of dietetic policies and procedure for the Nutritional Services division of the Department.
Advises Dietitian Aides on processing diet orders, calculating menu adjustments and mixing nutritional supplements for patients on regular and special diets.
Provides guidance to the Director of Food Services regarding menu planning and review for nutritional adequacy and develops and updates dietetic policies and procedures. May serve as DFS in their absence.
Performs regular duties of a Dietitian, including advising medical staff on the clinical efficacy of diet orders and recommending Medical Nutrition Therapy; calculating nutritional intake and assesses nutritional adequacy; providing nutrition education counseling to in-patients and out-patients; documenting assessments and pertinent nutrition information in patient medical records, and conducting in-service training.
Develops, evaluates and updates nutrition education materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Certification: Possession of a Registered Dietitian certificate issued by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association, as mandated by State of California law. Some positions may also require specialized certifications such as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Thorough knowledge of:
Nutritional therapy
Clinical and biochemical data
Educational techniques, interviewing process, nutritional assessment and motivational techniques and strategies
Charting in patient medical records and recordkeeping
